Haití valora entrega de ayuda humanitaria

PUERTO PRÍNCIPE.-El presidente de la República de Haití, René Preval, saludó la iniciativa del presidente dominicano, Leonel Fernández, de enviar ayuda humanitaria a esa nación para mitigar los efectos de las tormentas tropicales Gustav y Hanna, y del huracán Ike.
El gobernante haitiano dijo que el gesto del pueblo dominicano y del presidente Fernández es mucho más apreciable, toda vez de que también la República Dominicana sufrió por las inundaciones.
Entiende que la ayuda contribuirá significativamente a cambiar la percepción que tienen algunos de sus conciudadanos en torno a las autoridades dominicanas.
Al enviarle un mensaje de agradecimiento al presidente Fernández, René Preval argumentó que la acción contribuirá, además, a estrechar los lazos de fraternidad y hermandad entre los dos pueblos.
El presidente de Haití habló en esos términos al recibir la comisión de alto nivel del gobierno dominicano que viajó a esa nación a entregar ayuda humanitaria que consiste en medicamentos, alimentos y asistencia médica.
También la Primer Ministro de Haití, Michele Louis, refirió que el donativo es de gran importancia para los haitianos que sufrieron los embates de los huracanes.
La funcionaria argumentó que la acción del gobierno dominicano tiene doble importancia, ya que es bastante necesaria para los damnificados y contribuye a la hermandad de ambos pueblos.
La comisión recibida por el presidente Preval estuvo integrada por el Embajador dominicano en Haití, José Serrulle; por el secretario de Salud Pública, Bautista Rojas Gómez; por el director del Plan Social de la Presidencia, Emigdio Sosa; la directora de Promese, Elena Fernández; el secretario de Estado, Rafael Pérez Modesto y por el Cónsul general en Haití, Carlos Castillo.
